About the Kidlington & District Historical Society

The Society was founded in 1971 with the object of promoting an interest in the history, architecture and archaeology of Kidlington and the surrounding area and to research, compile and publish local historical records.

With a membership of about 60, the Society meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 7.50pm in the Lounge, Moorside Place, off The Moors, Kidlington. The programme of speakers covers a wide range of interests and the quarterly members’ newsletter includes a precis of each of the talks (see ‘Our Programme’ page for details).

Our programme also includes a whole day visit in early summer and a local evening visit in July. Members also enjoy an Annual Dinner with a guest speaker.

New members are welcome: the annual subscription is £21.00 (Concessions £19.00).

Visitors are welcome at our monthly meetings and need not be accompanied by a member. The charge is £3.50 on the door (25p if aged 25 or under).

Details of the Society’s extensive list of publications, which reflects many years of research by its members into different aspects of Kidlington’s history, can be found on the Publications for Sale page. Prices and purchasing information will also be found there.
